SCUBA is the short form for Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus. SCUBA is a very safe sport with proper training and well maintained equipment. Agencies such as PADI and NAUI provide training and certification worldwide. SCUBA can provide a whole new aspect on the world. Being able to view what's within the 70% of the world we can't walk is incredible. Whether diving in a lake or an ocean, the experience cannot adequately be described. Discovering part of the world that we know least about is always an adventure. Discovering ancient shipwrecks is quite common, don't think all of the good shipwrecks have already been found, because they haven't ! Searching for shipwrecks based on archives can lead to life long searches. If you are not interested in shipwrecks, there is an incredible amount of marine life in the worlds waters. Whether you are interested in fish or coral, there is an amazing amount of diversity. SCUBA has opened the doors for the average individual to inspect natures beauty in its own environment. I started SCUBA diving in 1993 with a PADI certification. I had no idea what I was missing out on. After diving for a few months I decided I would like to advance my training to a higher level. The levels of certification I attained after my Open Water SCUBA Diver include, Advanced Diver, Rescue Diver, Divemaster, and Instructor. The Divemaster level is the first level considered professional. A few years of diving in exotic locations such as Mexico, Barbados and Costa Rica led me train as a PADI Open Water SCUBA Instructor. Certified as a PADI instructor and MEDIC first aid instructor I was employed to teach in Cancun, Mexico. So why am I back in Canada ? Well I missed my family and friends, and found it difficult to deal with some tourists. If you would like to see some of my dive pictures you can do so by visiting my Cozumel, Mexico, Costa Rica and Queen Charlotte Islands webpages. I have created a website that contains detailed maps of dive sites in Canada. At present the only wrecks I have listed are those in Ontario. This project is quite a large task as it involves the making of maps and searching for wreck information. Please visit my site at http://www.earthsciences.ca/dive . Feedback and information to add to the site would be greatly appreciated. A few SCUBA diving centres that I recommend are: London, Ontario, Canada Bridgetown, Barbados, BWI
