I am a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Earth Sciences at The University of Western
Ontario.
I spend several months of the year in the Canadian Arctic
(Nunavut) and Greenland studying Quaternary and Surficial geology.
The main focus of my research is:
1) to reconstruct the ice-movement history in the Committee Bay area of
Nunavut;
2) study mineral dispersal patterns to aid mineral exploration;
3) produce detailed surficial geology maps of the Committee Bay area.
My research in Nunavut was initiated during 2001 in the
Arrowsmith River map area NTS 56O (south). The field camp was located on Walker Lake
located in NTS 56J.
During the 2002 field season my research continued further
east in the Ellice Hills map area NTS 56P.
In 2003 I conducted research in Greenland, which
focused on landforms at the perimeter of the ice-sheet. Visit the photo
gallery to view pictures.
In 2004 I conducted research in the NTS 56N and NTS 56O
(south) map
areas of lower Boothia Peninsula, Nunavut.
This work built upon research
conducted in the Committee Bay area in 2001 and 2002.
In 2005 I conducted research in the NTS57A map area just
south of the hamlet of Kugaaruk (Pelly Bay), Nunavut.
In 2006 I hope to defend my thesis.
